2004 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the alternator on 2004 Chevrolet Venture?
A: To replace the Alternator, remove the battery ground (negative) cable that goes to the battery. Turn and secure the engine forward to the rear generator bolts. Eliminate the generator b+ terminal nut, add the generator b+ lead and the generator electrical connector, please. Next remove the Drive Belt from the generator removal of the front bolt and the rear bolts from the generator. Gently lift the generator off the generator bracket and place it over the drive axle. First, take off the belt tensioner and the generator bracket, then disconnect the power steering pipes from the power steering pipe retainer. Take off the fuel pressure test port (schrader valve) cap from the fuel injector rail and move the Power Steering Pump in front of the timing chain cover without removing power steering pipes. Pull the electrical harness out from the retainer in the right fender well, and dismount the generator from the vehicle. For installation, return the generator back on the vehicle over the drive axle and mount the electric harness to the retainer in the right fender well. Replace the Power Steering Pump back to the engine and fuel pressure test port (schrader valve) cap back to the injector rail and power steering pipes to the power steering pipe retainer. Mount the generator bracket and the Drive Belt tensioner, and then align the generator onto the generator bracket. Mount the front bolt of the generator, as well as the rear bolts, tightening them to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Replace the Drive Belt, the generator electrical connector, the generator b+ lead, and the generator b+ terminal nut, torquing it to 13 n.m (115 lb in). Now turn the engine rearward and install the engine mount strut bracket bolts, now reconnect the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery.
