2005 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the alternator on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Begin generator replacement by disconnecting the battery ground (negative) cable from the battery. The engine needs to be rotated forward for access to the rear generator bolts while maintaining engine security. Start by removing the generator b+ terminal nut along with the generator b+ lead and the generator electrical connector. Start by extracting the Drive Belt from the generator until it is completely removed. Afterwards use a wrench to remove the generator front bolt followed by the rear bolts. Position the generator above the drive axle after extracting it carefully from its bracket. Disconnect the Drive Belt tensioner along with the generator bracket while also separating the power steering pipes from the power steering pipe retainer. Unscrew the schrader valve cap from the fuel injector rail before placing the Power Steering Pump in front of the timing chain cover without disconnecting the power steering pipes. First remove the generator from the vehicle by moving away the electrical harness from its retainer location on the right fender well. To install the generator first put it into the vehicle above the drive axle then attach the electrical harness to the right fender well retainer. Next proceed with reinstalling the Power Steering Pump onto the engine and the fuel pressure test port cap onto the fuel injector rail then install the power steering pipes from the retainer. Secure both the generator bracket and Drive Belt tensioner before placing the generator into position on its bracket. Install the generator front bolt and rear bolts, tightening them to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Set the Drive Belt then connect the generator electrical connector before adding the generator b+ lead and finish by tightening the generator b+ terminal nut to 13 n.m (115 lb in). The battery ground (negative) cable should be reattached to the battery following engine mount strut bracket bolt installation.
