2003 GMC Safari Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the auxiliary heater core on 2003 GMC Safari?
A: Draining the engine coolant should be done first before beginning auxiliary heater core replacement work. You should start by unclipping the auxiliary heater pipes clamps and disconnecting the pipes from the auxiliary heater module. Both left and right heater core sides must have screws and their band clamp removed in order to extract the heater core from its case. A protective cover must be placed on the floor to avoid coolant from seeping onto the carpet before you handle the auxiliary heater module. The next step involves placing the heater core inside the case after applying new seals to the core while the heater core case contains the core once more. Apply a screw and band clamp onto the left side of the heater core while tightening them to produce 2 N.m of torque (18 lb in). Connect the auxiliary heater pipes by installing clamps after securing both the left and right sides. To complete the repair you must put back the body side front lower trim panel followed by engine coolant system refilling.
