  A: Begin your Universal Joint replacement by assembling these two tools commonly named as u joint bearing separator (J 9522-3) and u joint bearing spacer remover (J 9522-5). Set the propeller shaft horizontally on the press support platform while indicating where it connects to the transmission and transfer case end from the other axle end. Use the pliers to apply pressure on snap ring ends and take out the bearing assemblies. When a snap ring sticks, tapping the bearing cup with a light force helps release pressure. Mount the yoke lower ear on a 30 mm socket then let the u joint bearing separator (J 9522-3) push the bottom bearing cup out of the yoke ear. Put the u joint bearing spacer remover between the seal and the bearing cup to help remove the strapped cup when it does not slide out completely. Spin the propeller shaft to release the second bearing cup then extract cross parts and all components of the Universal Joint.
