2004 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the A/C Accumulator (ACDelco P/N 52474433) into the A/C evaporator tube on 2004 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The A/C Accumulator (ACDelco P/N 52474433) requires installation through the a/c evaporator tube (liquid line) between the condenser and evaporator by first removing the a/c line clip. Wipe the orifice location in the a/c line with a clean cloth while keeping it open then close it. Make two section marks on the a/c line at 50.8 mm (1.99 in) distance from each other before cutting it at those points. Use file tools to smooth out the cut sections to avoid metal particles from entering the line. Place the nuts and ferrules onto the liquid line ends where the small end should face the nuts before skipping the o-ring installation step. The installation of the liquid line into the accumulator requires the line to reach full depth inside while tightening the nuts with a firm grip over the line position. Install the accumulator to the a/c line after applying 525 viscosity oil on its o-rings. The accumulator installation should be mounted so the arrow points forward to the evaporator while maintaining the line in a full-bottomed position until tightening the nuts to 15 n.m torque (11 lb ft). Screw the a/c line fitting to the orifice location until it reaches 24 n.m (18 ft.lb), then attach the line to the retainer part. The a/c system needs evacuation after which recharge takes place and the technician must use the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to check for leakage at the in-line accumulator fittings and orifice location.
