2003 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator on 2003 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Begin with recovering refrigerant from the system before you disconnect the evaporator tube from its retainer to remove both the tube retainer and the accumulator. Start by disconnecting the a/c compressor hose from the accumulator through removal of the accumulator nut. First disconnect the accumulator tube by loosening the tube nut before taking off the accumulator tube from the accumulator. The installer should then remove the accumulator bracket retaining bolt to extract the accumulator from the vehicle. To install the accumulator first add appropriate lubricating oil then install it onto its bracket before securing the accumulator bracket retaining bolt based on a torque specification of 6 n.m (53 lb in). Thread the accumulator tube to the accumulator before torquing the accumulator tube nut to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). The a/c compressor hose installation to the accumulator should be followed by tightening the a/c compressor hose to accumulator nut to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). After the final step consists of installing the evaporator tube retainer then hooking up the evaporator tube to the retainer and continuing with a/c system recharge followed by conducting testing using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
