How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2004 Buick Rainier?

The first step to change a Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor consists of raising and supporting the vehicle. First disconnect the CKP sensor harness connector and next remove the retaining bolt by taking out the CKP sensor from the engine block. Test the sensor O-ring for wear or damage before install; if needed replace it with a fresh O-ring which should receive engine oil for lubrication. Position the CKP sensor within the engine block before securing it using a 10 N.m (89 lb in) torque setting. Once you finish installing the CKP sensor retaining bolt proceed to connect the CKP sensor harness connector. Use the lowering platform to complete the CKP System Variation Learn Procedure.
