• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2004 Buick Regal?

  A: Starting the upper Intake Manifold replacement requires disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and removing both the sight shield for fuel injectors and air cleaner duct. Next drain the cooling system and move the right Spark Plug Wires off the Ignition Control Module before reorganizing them. Begin by reducing fuel pressure and taking out the Fuel Rail assembly followed by disconnecting the brake booster hose from the vacuum source manifold. Begin by taking off the egr valve wiring harness heat shield nut and bolt together with the egr heat shield. After that remove the Throttle Body support bracket upper bolt. Remove electrical connections from the evap purge solenoid together with the t/p sensor, iac valve, map sensor and maf sensor. Follow sequential bolt torque to tighten the upper Intake Manifold bolts (1-10) to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Install the Throttle Body's evap purge solenoid vacuum line before reattaching the accelerator and cruise control cables and their bracket to the Throttle Body. Handwire electrical connectors between maf sensor, map sensor, iac valve, t/p sensor and evap purge solenoid. Start by installing the Throttle Body upper support bracket bolt at 16 nm (12 inch lbs.), then continue with the egr valve wiring harness heat shield and matching nut and bolt at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). The installation includes reconnecting the brake booster hose to both the vacuum source manifold and Fuel Rail assembly and the right Spark Plug Wires to the Ignition Control Module. After installation complete the steps by attaching the air cleaner intake duct and fuel injector sight shield and filling the cooling system and negative Battery Cable reconnection and leak inspection.
