Start replacement work on Aztek liftgate hinges by taking out the liftgate then making a grease pencil mark where the hinges are located. Take down the nuts from each liftgate hinge and note the position of the shims for reinstallation. Disassemble the liftgate hinges plus their seals and shims by removing them from the vehicle. Set the liftgate hinges onto their positions using the shims and seals as marked on the vehicle. Then install the nuts onto the liftgate hinges and tighten them to 33 N.m (28 lb ft). Finally, reinstall the liftgate.
