• Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?

  A: To replace the condenser; recover refrigerant. The two processes start by unlocking the upper filler panel and the hood latch support in that order. Then disconnect the discharge hose nut from the condenser and then pull out the discharge hose. Continue to unscrew the evaporator hose nut and the evaporator hose off the condenser and throw away the sealing washers from both hoses. Take out the condenser mounting bolts and pull the left and the right sides of the condenser free from the retainers and pull the condenser from the vehicle. During the installation of a new condenser, should top up with refrigerant oil as required. Mount the right side of condenser into retainer, then left, and align the condenser into the vehicle. Mount the condenser and secure the mounting bolts with 13 N.m (115 lb in) torque. Next, insert the new sealing washers into the evaporator hose and the discharge hose and then connect the evaporator hose and nut to the condenser and tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Connect and tighten the discharge hose and its nut to the condenser at 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Put back the hood latch bracket, recharge the A/C system, conduct a leak test on the fittings with Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A), and reinstall the upper filler panel.
