2003 Cadillac DeVille A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in the HVAC system on 2003 Cadillac DeVille?
A: HVAC system condenser replacement begins with recovering the refrigerant from the HVAC system. Start by taking off the upper filler panel then move onto removing the hood latch support. The discharge hose nut should be detached before removing the discharge hose from the condenser. The next step involves eliminating the suction hose nut and suction hose from the condenser body. Begin by first removing condenser mounting bolts and subsequently take both the retainer's left and right sides from their mounts before extracting the condenser from the vehicle. Place the right side of the condenser into the retainer for installation while also adding refrigerant oil when performing a condenser replacement. The left condenser installation follows by placing it into position within the retainer before setting the condenser into the vehicle line-up. The installation process requires the application of 13 N.m (10 lb ft) torque on condenser mounting bolts during tightening. Lay the evaporator hose on the condenser while inspecting the seals for damage before replacing any broken ones unless lubricant is necessary. Screw and tighten the evaporator hose nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Screw the discharge hose to the condenser while tightening its nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Reinstall the hood latch bracket while you recharge the A/C system followed by a Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) test of all fittings on repaired components. Reinstall the upper filler panel as the last step.
