Fitting replacement for the A/C orifice tube starts with recovering the refrigerant from the system. You can detach the line connection between the discharge hose and evaporator inlet by using the J 38042 (J 38042 Dual O-Ring Tube Separator). Extract the A/C orifice tube which is situated inside the evaporator hose assembly. Refrigerant oil should be used to lubricate the O-ring before installation of the new A/C orifice tube to the evaporator hose assembly. Press the discharge hose onto the evaporator inlet line fitting then tighten it to 24 N.m (18 lb ft). Place the line in its original position inside the plastic hold-down clamp. The electrochemical gas detector (J 39400) should be used to conduct a leak test on the repaired components after recharging the refrigerant.
