2005 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2005 Cadillac DeVille?
A: When replacing the condenser refrigerant recovery needs to occur first. Start by taking off the upper filler panel, hood latch support, discharge hose nut then detach the discharge hose and evaporator hose nut from the condenser. Remove the evaporator hose before disposing of its sealing washers which also come from both hoses. The condenser installation begins by removing its mounting bolts followed by extracting each condenser side from its retainer until the condenser can be removed from the vehicle. The right side of the condenser needs fitting into the retainer but always apply refrigerant oil during new condenser installations. First put the left retainer into position before sliding the condenser into place. After securing it with the mounting bolts make sure to torque them to 13 N.m (115 lb in). The process requires new sealing washers for both evaporator and discharge hoses followed by proper hose attachment using its respective nut tightened to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). The discharge hose will snap into place with its nut before using a torque wrench to tighten it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Reinstall the hood latch bracket followed by A/C system recharge and Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) test of the system before completing upper filler panel installation.
