2005 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a refrigerant system on 2005 Cadillac DeVille?
A: The refrigerant recovery process starts as the first step before accumulator replacement. First disconnect the positive Battery Cable which tops the accumulator cover before releasing the snap clamp that holds the evaporator hose to the accumulator cover. Begin by removing the accumulator cover from the accumulator then eliminate the evaporator hose nut followed by the evaporator hose. First remove the suction hose nut and suction hose from the accumulator while discarding both hoses' sealing washers. Drain the accumulated oil by removing the accumulator first while letting go of its retainer system. Follow accumulator installation with oil addition if necessary before installing the accumulator retainer. Begin by installing fresh sealing washers to the evaporator hose and suction hose respectively. Next install the evaporator hose to the accumulator and tighten the evaporator hose nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). After installing the suction hose securely tighten the suction hose nut according to established torque requirements. After securing the accumulator cover onto the accumulator by setting all snap fasteners properly positioned, you should attach the evaporator hose to the accumulator cover to activate the snap clamp. Starting with the recharge of the refrigerant system personnel need to place the positive Battery Cable into the accumulator cover's top clip. The fittings need to undergo final leak testing through use of the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
