- Q: How to Replace a Front Door Window Regulator on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?A: Beginnings to replace the front door Window Regulator start with removing the door trim panel combined with the door module. The process requires removal of the water deflector along with inside handle assembly so workers can access the window clamp attachment bolts through front assembly prying and rearward sliding procedures. Secure the power window module and switch to their proper positions after you disconnect the handle rod from its clip guide. Next, raise and tape the window in the full up position. Start the inner door panel Window Regulator replacement process by detaching the fasteners of the window clamp attachment before putting the regulator clamps in the full down position. Then disconnect the electrical connector from the Window Regulator motor to remove the Window Regulator from the inner door panel. The Window Regulator installation requires insertion into the inner door panel through its access hole while using fasteners (2, 3) that should be tightened to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Attach the electrical connector to the Window Regulator motor through the rubber insulators that are correctly mounted on the Window Regulator clamps. Subsequently raise the Window Regulator clamps to allow the window to enter. To correctly install the window remove the tape then lower it two inches and set it fully rearward against the center pillar while adjusting the clamp position 2-3 mm (5/64-1/8 in) and tighten the fasteners to 10.5 n.m (93 lb in). The Power Window Switch should be detached from the module so you can insert the rear section of the inside handle assembly through the inner panel opening. By pressing front assembly components inward, you will complete assembly engagement and install the handle rod to the clip guide. To complete the procedure you must install the water deflector followed by the door module and door trim panel. Then reprogram the front door module.
