How to replace the front outside door handle on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?

A proper replacement of the front outside door handle begins by fully locating the window and then removing the door trim panel. Proceed by uninstalling the door module in addition to the water deflector. To start the process locate the rear hole of the inner panel and unfasten the outside door handle rod from the door latch retainer clip then detach the outside lock rod and lock cylinder harness electrical connector (for the driver door alone). Use the access holes to eliminate outside door handle fasteners and detach the handle piece by pushing tab retainers upward before pulling it free with attached latch rod and lock cylinder. To install the rod follow this procedure: Insert the rods into the cutout then rotate the handle until the tabs lock the door by pushing inwards with upward force. The door fasteners require tightening to 7 N.m (62 lb in) before connecting the lock cylinder electrical harness to its connector while joining the outside lock rod to the door latch through a rear access hole. Insert the outside door handle rod to the door latch then close the clip before reattaching the water deflector and door module along with door trim panel.
