How to replace the rear outside door handle on 2003 Cadillac DeVille?

Beginning the replacement procedure for the rear outside door handle starts by making sure the window is fully elevated. Unlock the door trim panel before removing the door module together with the water deflector. Start by taking off the latch assembly then proceed to pull the rear outside door handle fastener through its corresponding hole on the latch while also taking out the front outside door handle fastener through the rear access hole. Press and lift the door handle assembly while pushing the two lower retaining tabs upward to detach it along with the latch rod. Take the rod out from the outside door handle. Screw the rod onto the outside door handle before putting it through the cut-out before rotating the handle while applying upward and inward pressure for retaining tab engagement. Secure through the access holes the fasteners that hold the outside door handle by tightly tightening them to 7 N.m (62 lb in). After completing the above steps, reassemble the water deflector followed by the door module and then secure the door trim panel last.
