How to replace the front outside door handle on 2005 Cadillac DeVille?

The first step before handling the front outside Door Handle replacement is to make sure the window is fully raised. First uninstall the door trim panel together with the door module followed by removal of the water deflector. Position at the rear hole of the inner panel to detach the outside Door Handle rod from the door latch retainer clip together with the outside lock rod from the door latch (for the driver door only) as well as the lock cylinder harness electrical connector from the door harness (for the driver door only). Use the access holes to remove fasteners from the outside Door Handle and subsequently remove the handle while pulling it up with attached rods and lock cylinder. The installation process requires you to slide the rods into the cutout and set the handle before applying pressure on both sides while simultaneously pushing upward to make the retaining tabs attach to the door. Complete the installation by securing outside Door Handle fasteners at 7 n.m (62 lb in) and (for driver door only) reconnect the lock cylinder harness electrical connector and establish the outside lock rod connection between door latch. To attach the outside Door Handle rod to the door latch place it within the retainer clip before completing the clip closure. Place the water deflector followed by door module and door trim panel into position.
