2004 Cadillac Seville Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2004 Cadillac Seville?
A: Start the ABS Control Module replacement by first cutting the ignition and raising the vehicle up. Begin ABS Control Module replacement by taking off both the front wheel on the left side as well as the left fascia extension at the front while cleaning the nearby ABS Control Module area to stop components from ABS from turning dirty. The ABS Control Module connector position assurance should be taken out from the ABS Control Module electrical connector when the ABS Control Module connector tab reaches its unlocked position after washing all ABS Control Module surrounding parts thoroughly. The connection between ABS Control Module wiring harnesses should never be engaged or removed when the ignition switch remains activated. The ABS Control Module electrical connector needs to be removed from the ABS Control Module component along with removal of the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) electrical connector from the ABS Control Module unit. Remove 6 ABS Control Module to BPMV screws from the ABS Control Module/BPMV assembly and clean its surfaces while observing that an unrepairable ABS Control Module requires replacement if faulty. Remove the ABS Control Module unit from the fitting point of the BPMV assembly. Begin installer operations by cleaning the BPMV surface before attaching the ABS Control Module to the BPMV followed by inserting 6 ABS Control Module to BPMV screws and torquing them to 3.2 Nm (28 inch lbs.). After installing the ABS Control Module electrical connector to the ABS Control Module release the ABS Control Module connector position assurance onto the ABS Control Module electrical connector then rotate the ABS Control Module connector tab downward to achieve the locked position. Position the left front fascia extension and wheel followed by lowering the vehicle. A non-programmed ABS Control Module can produce DRP/ABS/TCS/VSES/VES (if equipped) malfunctions that turn on DTC C1248 to trigger the red brake warning indicator and set DTC C1255m3 for ABS Control Module internal failure. Automatic programming procedures should be completed on the new ABS Control Module by contacting the local dealer for implementation using current vehicle-specific software. The scan tool enables you to clean DTCs after which you will execute the ABS Diagnostic System Check.
