To overhaul the rear brake caliper, dismount from the vehicle and if the leak is occurring from the rear past the integral park brake actuator shaft seal, replace the entire brake caliper assembly because of the non-serviceable nature of the seal. Next, pull out the caliper sleeves and dust boots, and then use a small piece of wood or plastic to gently remove the Brake Caliper Piston dust boot seal retaining ring. With a spanner type wrench, you can remove the Brake Caliper Piston countershock in the piston using a spanner type wrench. Take off dust boot seal. Get rid off the old piston dust boot seal and remove the piston seal from the caliper bore. Refined by removing bleeder valve, repositioning the park brake actuator lever return spring and relieve tension. Check the good function of the park brake integral mechanism without dissasembly of the former, in the case of sewing replacing the brake caliper assembly. Clean the caliper piston bore, seal counterbore, piston, and sleeves with denatured alcohol followed by the drying with non-lubricated, filtered air. Inspect the caliper bore for cracks, scoring, pitting, rust, and corrosion. In case it is found, replace the caliper assembly. Check for caliper piston and sleeves for similar damage and replace when needed. Unhook the park brake lever return spring and the nut that holds the park brake lever in place, then remove the lever. Tap carefully the service tab of the park brake actuator shaft seal to remove and dispose of and check its sealing surface for pitting, rust, or corrosion and this would require replacement of the caliper assembly. Check the park brake actuator lever and return spring for wear or deformities and replace if necessary. Use a light covering of high-temperature silicone brake lubricant on the new park brake actuator shaft seal prior to screwing it onto the actuator shaft. Replace the park brake lever and the return spring while ensuring the actuator lever return spring is fixed. Lubricate the new piston seal in delco supreme 11® gm p/n 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667) or equivalent dot-3 brake fluid, and then install it into the caliper bore. Put on the new dust boot seal to the caliper piston, put the piston in the bore and give it a clock wise twist to seat well. Secure the piston dust boot seal into the counterbore using the retaining ring and install back the bleeder valve. Use high-temperature silicone brake lubricant to coat the caliper sleeves and mounting holes, then slide the boots over them, and the sleeves with the lubricant installed. Lastly, reattach the brake caliper to the vehicle and look for leaks throughout the hydraulic braking system bleeding process; if any fluid leaks from the front past the piston dust boot seal, change the assembly for the failures due to the non-serviceable part in the integral adjustment mechanism seal.
