    Q:
How to replace the ABS Control Module on Cadillac DeVille? Posted by Customer
    A:
Turn OFF ignition and lift the vehicle before starting the replacement of an ABS Control Module (ABSCM). The left front wheel and left front fascia extension must be taken off. Before working on the ABSCM clean its surrounding location to avoid antilock brake component contamination. Thoroughly wash every substance away which is stuck to the ABSCM and its surrounding area. You must rotate the tab on the ABSCM connector position assurance until the unlocked position becomes available to detach it from the ABSCM electrical connector. The wiring harness must never receive connection or disconnection while the ignition switch maintains an ON position to protect equipment. Remove ABSCM electrical connector and brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) pump motor harness pigtail electrical connector from their connection to the ABSCM. Clean the 6 ABSCM to BPMV screw holes before removing these screws so you can access the ABSCM/BPMV assemble. Repairing the ABSCM is impossible because a faulty unit requires new replacement. The separation between ABSCM and BPMV must be executed. Clean the seal surface of the BPMV before you install the ABSCM onto the BPMV. Fix the 6 ABSCM to BPMV screws while tightening them to 3.2 Nm (28 inch lbs.). The BPMV pump motor harness pigtail electrical connector must connect to the ABSCM while keeping the ignition switch in OFF position before installing the ABSCM electrical connector to its host. Install the position assurance while placing the ABSCM electrical connector under the tab rotated to its locking position. Reinstall the left front fascia extension followed by the left front wheel while lowering the vehicle. The ABSCM without programming will result in poor system performance of DRP together with ABS / TCS / VSES / VES when these systems exist, while also creating the faults C1248 and C1255. When replacing an ABSCM users should select the latest software which matches their vehicle for programming the component. The scan tool should be utilized to eliminate stored DTCs followed by conducting the ABS Diagnostic System Check.

    Q:
How to replace the ABS Control Module on Cadillac Seville? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the ABS Control Module (ABSCM) should be turning OFF the ignition followed by elevating the vehicle. Clear all loose dirt from the area surrounding the ABSCM before you detach the left front wheel and left front fascia extension. This safeguards the disassembled ABS components from contaminating. Wash every component surrounding the ABSCM before rotating the ABSCM connector tab for unlocked access. Finally remove the connector position assurance from the electrical connector on the ABSCM. Maintain equipment safety by keeping the ignition key ON only when connecting or disconnecting the ABSCM wiring harness through its connector. Separated connections start with disconnecting the ABSCM electrical connector from the ABSCM system and following this with removal of the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) electrical connector from the ABSCM unit. Remove the six ABSCM to BPMV screws and cleanse the ABSCM/BPMV assembly surface while marking the ABSCM replacement need since no ABSCM repair exists. You must disconnect the ABSCM component and the BPMV element. First clean the BPMV seal surface before installing the ABSCM onto the BPMV with a torque of 3.2 Nm (28 inch lbs.) using the 6 screws when tightening them. Proceed with installing the ABSCM connector position assurance to the ABSCM electrical connector. Align the ABSCM connector tab downwards into the locked position. Put the left front fascia extension then left front wheel back before lowering the vehicle. An unprogrammed ABSCM can result in nonfunctioning or insufficient operation of the DRP/ABS/TCS/VSES/VES systems (if equipped) while also triggering DTC C1248 ABSCM Turned On the Red Brake Warning Indicator or DTC C1255m3 ABSCM Internal Malfunction. A new ABSCM will only function after it receives programming with the most current software for your vehicle and should be handled by your local dealer. Your tool should first delete DTCs after which it should perform the ABS Diagnostic System Check.
