2005 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2005 Cadillac DeVille?
A: The brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) replacement must occur free of hazard by discarding the attempt to fix it because the entire brake pressure modulator valve assembly requires new parts. First turn the ignition off then raise the vehicle. Start by taking out the left front wheel followed by left front fascia extension then front air deflector. You must wipe down the surroundings of both the ebcm and bpmv modules to stop any infusion from occurring. First remove the ebcm connector position assurance then rotate the ebcm connector tab upwards to free it from the ebcm electrical connector. The ebcm electrical connector should be detached from the ebcm unit when the ignition is off to protect equipment from damage. Protect the vehicle exterior by taking safety measures to avoid brake fluid spills. At the same time protect against brake fluid irritation. Extract the 2 master cylinder brake pipes and the 4 wheel brake pipes from the bpmv while cleaning any drip. Uninstall 2 bpmv bracket nuts and the ebcm/bpmv assembly from the bpmv bracket. Proceed to disconnect the bpmv electrical connector from the ebcm then remove the 6 ebcm to bpmv screws. To replace the ebcm you must first clean the surface of the ebcm/bpmv assembly since ebcm cannot be repaired unless it proves faulty. To install you must clean the bpmv face before putting the ebcm onto the bpmv while tightening those 6 ebcm to bpmv screws to 3.2 nm (28 inch lbs.). Both electrical bpmv connector installation and verification of three rubber isolators should occur before assembling the ebcm/bpmv assembly to the bpmv bracket . Attach the 2 bpmv bracket nuts while torquing them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Full installation of brake pipes to the mounting retainers and proper connection to the bpmv will prevent safety hazards. A new bpmv requires users to remove shipping plugs before connecting the 4 wheel brake pipes and the 2 master cylinder brake pipes to the bpmv with 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) torque. Connect the ebcm electrical connector to the ebcm before locking its connector tab. Install the ebcm connector position assurance. Bringing together the components of left front fascia extension and front air deflector with left front wheel and letting the vehicle drop to floor level for performing auto bleed procedure and abs diagnostic system check.
