2004 Cadillac Seville Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Denso SC 1 (KG9) alternator on 2004 Cadillac Seville?
A: Service of the denso sc 1 (KG9) generator begins by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery followed by removing both the Drive Belt and engine cooling fans. Start by disconnecting the wiring harness connector on the generator and moving the protective boot out of the way from the generator bat terminal before you remove the positive lead terminal nut. Lower the generator bolt torque to remove it before taking out the generator from the car together with bolts (1, 2). Position the generator between the A/C Compressor and engine while ensuring to use appropriate fasteners for their designated locations since alternative fasteners must carry the same part number. Do not apply paints, corrosion inhibitors or lubricants to fasteners or joint areas because they can alter torque values and clamping forces. Tighten the generator mounting bolts (1, 2) to 50 n.m. Torque value according to standard procedures. (37 lb ft). Connect the wiring harness to the generator before fastening the battery positive lead and installing the generator output bat terminal nut at a torque of 12.5 n.m. (111 lb in). Reinstall the engine cooling fans, place the Drive Belt on and then reconnect the battery negative cable last.
