2004 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2004 Cadillac XLR?
A: The replacement of brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) starts by turning off the Ignition Switch and disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. Start by draining the coolant system followed by the fuel injector sight shield and air inlet duct removal. For access to the workplace disconnect both the upper Radiator Hose and the surge tank inlet hose before placing them to the side. The belt tensioner requires removal and the brake fluid pressure sensor connector must be unfastened. Before disconnecting the brake pipes from their points on the master cylinder along with front and rear calipers, users must loosen two insulator nuts found on the bpmv sides. Note all pipe locations. The service process begins by removing the bpmv/ebcm after disconnecting its electronic brake control module (EBCM) connector. Connect the ebcm connector along with the brake fluid pressure sensor connector and torque the two insulator nuts until they achieve 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). The technician should attach brake pipes from front and rear calipers then tighten them to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) before connecting the brake pipes from master cylinder and torquing them to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). The installation process requires putting back the belt tensioner and upstream Radiator Hose as well as surge tank inlet hose and air inlet duct and fuel injector sight shield. The technician should fill the coolant system while performing brake system bleeding procedures.
