How to replace the front brake calipers on 2004 Cadillac XLR?

The brake caliper replacement starts with checking the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level. When fluid rests at the midway point between maximum and minimum markings no additional precautions are needed. After lifting the vehicle use a jack standby unit to take out its tire and wheel set. Afterward separate the brake caliper inlet bolt with brake hose from the caliper while disposing two copper gaskets connected to the parts. Put plugs in the caliper holes and hose ports before removing guide pin bolts to place the caliper off its holder. Look for damage on the caliper slide boots and replace them when needed. Mount the brake caliper on its bracket while tightening the guide pins to 23 ft. lbs. at 31 Nm. Insert fresh copper gaskets onto the brake caliper inlet fitting and hose before securing both items through the hose to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) torque. Get rid of the hydraulic brake system's air then put on the new tire with wheel and place the vehicle back down.
