How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2005 Cadillac XLR?

Examine the brake master cylinder fluid level first; topping up will not be needed when the fluid sits in the middle of visible marks but it needs adjustment to this point if the fluid level is above this mark. Lift the vehicle, detach the tire assembly, and take off the wheel and brake caliper. Separate the brake caliper inlet bolt connection and brake hose from the caliper by taking off the two stuck copper brake hose gaskets on the caliper or hose end. Seal off the brake components before you detach the caliper guide pins to remove the unit from its bracket assembly. Check if the caliper slide boots need replacement due to any damage. Position the brake caliper back on its mounting bracket and clamp it tightly at 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.) with guide pin bolts. Put on new copper brake hose gaskets and screw the brake caliper inlet bolt to the brake hose. Tighten both components to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.). Let the hydraulic brake system fluid drain out then put back the tire and wheel assembly before lowering the car again.
