2005 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2005 Cadillac XLR?
A: First lift the vehicle and use supporting equipment before removing the rear wheel and tire. Remove dust and damage from the brake system parts before putting a rubber seal or plug on the open pipe to keep brake fluid inside the system. Put a back up wrench on the hose end to separate the brake pipe from the brake hose. Then seal the open pipe at its end but leave the brake pipe undamaged by the plug. Pull out the brake hose from its bracket after taking off the retainer from the hose bracket. Take off the brake caliper inlet bolt then disconnect the brake hose from the caliper and discard attached copper brake hose gaskets. Each installation process requires you to apply new copper brake hose gaskets at the ends of the hose and brake caliper before putting the bolt through the caliper inlet fitting and the brake hose. Then fix these components to the brake caliper by tightening the bolt to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Secure the brake hose to its bracket connection without bending or twisting the hose. Install the retainer piece onto the brake hose fitting present on the bracket. After removing the rubber cover at the brake pipe end, attach the brake pipe fitting to the brake hose unit a back up wrench then tighten it to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Reassemble the tire and wheel before repairing the brake system with a proper handling process.
