2004 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear steering knuckle on 2004 Cadillac XLR?
A: To replace the rear Steering Knuckle the first thing that needs to be done is to raise and support the vehicle and loose the tire and wheel assembly. Disconnect the system of the wheel speed sensor and the esc position sensor link and remove the brake rotor. Disengage the outer Tie Rod End from the suspension knuckle, then remove the Spindle Nut retainer, spindle nut, and washer. Then unscrew the suspension knuckle from the upper Control Arm as well as lower Control Arm ball joint stud, and then remove the suspension knuckle. For installation, start by attaching the suspension knuckle, which is attached to the lower Control Arm ball joint stud and the upper Control Arm. Replace the Spindle Nut, washer, and retainer along with the outer Tie Rod End and the brake rotor with caliper. Connect the three electrical connectors, the wheel speed sensor connecter and esc position sensor link. Last, tire and wheel assembly into the car, lower the vehicle, and do a rear wheel alignment.
