- Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier?A: In order to replace the Starter motor, start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and then raise and support the vehicle. Disengage the Starter electric connectors (3,4), remove its bolts and pull the Starter. Get everything ready for installation which starts with installation of the Starter followed by installation of the Starter bolts doing it up to 40 n.m (30 lb ft). Attach the electrical connectors to the Starter and screw in the battery terminal nut to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). And, connect the electrical connectors to the Starter and fasten the s terminal nut to 3 n.m (27 lb in). Lastly, reduce the vehicle and reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
