How to replace the starter motor on Chevrolet Cavalier?

A technician must start by removing the negative Battery Cable connection and then raise the vehicle for support before beginning work. Start by removing the Starter bolts followed by disconnecting the electrical connectors (3,4). Once these steps are complete you can remove the Starter. Start by placing the Starter into position then use Starter bolts to tighten it to 40 n.m (30 lb ft) according to the fastener notice specification. Connect Starter electrical connectors then apply torque of 17 n.m (13 lb ft) to the battery terminal nut before connecting the s terminal and applying 3 n.m (27 lb in) of torque. The maintenance ends with vehicle lowering while reinstalling the negative Battery Cable.
