2004 Chevrolet Corvette Door Handle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the outside door handle on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The door trim panel needs removal for handling a replacement of the outside Door Handle. Also remove the water deflector and rear sight/access plugs. Detach the Power Window Switch to elevate the door window before switching off the power supply. Install the lock clip while unclipping the lock rod that belongs to the outside handle lock cylinder lever for proper retention. The coolant hose removal tool will separate the clip from its connection point to the door opening rod but side cutters need to finalize the cut at the Door Lock base. Start by removing the bolts securing the outside handle. Handle along with gasket should subsequently be taken off the vehicle. After installing the lock cylinder onto the handle put on the door opening rod and gasket to the handle. Insert the handle onto the door entry before rotating the key in the locking mechanism for installation assistance. Open the mounting bolts of the outside handle until they reach the sight holes and firmly torque them to 8 n.m (70 lb in). Shift the new door opening rod retaining clip onto the Door Lock before fixing the lock rod against the lock cylinder lever and the door opening rod to the Door Lock and then seal the clip around the rod's threaded portion to complete the installation. Remount the water deflector along with the sight access plugs and the door trim panel.
