How to replace the rear liftgate hinge on 2004 Chevrolet Impala?

You must eject the rear compartment lid before replacing its hinges and struts. Use a grease pencil to mark where the quarter panel hinge should go on the quarter panel before you take the bolts out of the rear compartment hinge and unmount it from that panel. Place the rear compartment hinge onto its matching location on the quarter panel before tightening its rear quarter bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Place back the rear compartment lid and its struts before making adjustments to the rear compartment lid hinge.
