How to replace the rear liftgate hinge on Chevrolet Impala?

You must remove the rear compartment lid and related struts before working on the rear compartment lid hinge replacement. Determine where the quarter panel hinge will attach on the panel with a grease pencil before taking the bolts from the rear compartment hinge and disconnecting it from the panel. Line up the rear compartment hinge to the quarter panel and bolt it in place using all bolts while torquing them to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Put back the rear compartment lid and struts afterward adjust the rear compartment lid hinge if required.
