How to replace the rear trunk latch on Chevrolet Impala?

Open the rear compartment to mark the position of the latch using a grease pencil before working on it. Unclip the latch power wires and remove its retaining nuts before pulling out the part from the rear compartment. Set the new latch on the markings made previously and torque the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Reconnect the electrical connectors to the latch part before placing the rear compartment back in its proper position.
