Chevrolet Impala Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the quarter panel emblem/nameplate on Chevrolet Impala?
A: You should use alignment tape as marks during the quarter panel installation of the Impala to locate the correct position. This tape will prevent damaging the mounting surface. Heat the emblem/nameplate evenly for 30 seconds using your J 25070 tool. Use a plastic flat blade tool to erase the nameplate from its surface on the panel. When replacing the emblem/nameplate on body and plastic panels use proper adhesive removal methods; body panels need either 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk or equivalent tools while plastic panels require lint-free cloth and VMP naptha solution or 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water mixture. Clear the area and dry it first then use tape to define where the emblem/nameplate should go on the panel. To prepare the installation surface warm it to 27-41 °C (80-105 °F) using J 25070 (Heat Gun) and maintain the emblem/nameplate temperature at 29-32 °C (85-90 °F). Place the emblem/nameplate gently where the marks show on the spot and attach it firmly by pressing down equally across the surface to make a strong seal. At last take away the protective tape from the area where you install the sign.
