2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Evaporator Tube and A/C Hose on 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: You must perform two steps before replacing the evaporator tube: refilling the coolant from a discharged container and emptying the cooling system liquids. First disconnect all components that include the air cleaner assembly and brake pressure modulator valve bracket while also removing the electrical connector from the Brake Fluid Level Sensor. Begin the replacement of the evaporator tube by first disconnecting the master cylinder from the Brake Booster through the removal of mounting nuts then separating the engine vacuum line from the Brake Booster itself. The hepatitis house inlet and outlet clamps require hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to secure them aside before heater hose removal from heater pipes. The a/c line coupling between the evaporator tube and the receiver dehydrator tube must be removed together with its mounting bolt to allow disconnecting the receiver dehydrator from the evaporator tube. Slowly remove the block fitting nut attached to the evaporator tube at the a/c compressor hose assembly while disconnecting this tube from the assembly. Disassemble the evaporator tube to the txv by removing its block fitting nut before you detach the tube from the txv. The installer must remove the evaporator tube from its support clip on the left fender rail and from the transaxle fluid filler tube while disconnecting both the a/c pressure sensor wire harness electrical connector near the top of the left shock tower and c101. The vehicle receives its evaporator tube and a/c pressure sensor. Discard all o-ring seals and seal washers. After replacing the o-ring seal on the receiver dehydrator and a/c pressure sensor you should install the a/c pressure sensor to the evaporator line while torquing it to 4.7 n.m (41 lb in). Install the evaporator tube into the vehicle while replacing its seal washers before installing the transaxle fluid filler tube. The evaporator tube requires connection to the left fender rail support clip and txv while tightening the txv nut to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). The installation of the transmission Shift Cable should be followed by attaching the receiver dehydrator to the evaporator tube and installing the a/c line coupling between the evaporator tube and receiver dehydrator tube . Mount the receiver dehydrator bolt with 4 n.m (36 lb in) torque and connect the evaporator tube to the a/c compressor hose assembly for a block fitting nut torque to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Reinstall the brake pressure modulator valve bracket followed by the master cylinder to the Brake Booster and secure it with nuts tightened to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Position the heater pipes hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to install the inlet and outlet heater hoses. The Brake Fluid Level Sensor electrical connector needs to be connected followed by installation of the engine vacuum line to the Brake Booster and wire harness electrical connector c101 installation. Before that, reposition the air cleaner assembly and complete the procedure. The last step entails evacuating and recharging the a/c system along with cooling system content addition followed by fitting leak detection with a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
