2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to properly dispose of a front shock absorber on 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: Before beginning the disposal of the suspension strut wear suitable eye protection to prevent accidents from drilling metal. Set the strut in a vise horizontally while extending the rod to its maximum length. At the end cap's center create a hole with a 5 mm (3/16 in.) drill bit for gas or gas and oil mixture drainage purposes. We need to use shop towels to collect the oil during this process. The drilling step ends with removing the strut from the vise before positioning it vertically with the hole towards the drain pan. Use the rod to guide the fluid out of the tube while completely removing all oil from the strut assembly.
