  A: Start Brake Master Cylinder overhaul by removing the component from the vehicle then fastening the mounting flange into a bench vise with access to the primary Piston rear side. First check the master cylinder reservoir exterior where the cap attaches before removing the cap and diaphragm before examining these parts for damage so you can replace any compromised parts. Start by detaching the master cylinder reservoir then use a smooth round-ended tool to push down on the primary Piston until the Piston retainer comes off so you can extract the primary Piston assembly from the cylinder bore.
