2004 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2004 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Before Fuel Rail assembly replacement note the eight-digit identification number stamped on the left-hand rail used to power even cylinders 2, 4 and 6. Two different types of materials compose the Fuel Injector o-rings though they share the same dimensions because the black o-ring belongs in the upper position and the brown o-ring occupies the lower position. During fuel servicing you should take these precautions to protect the fuel system by both plugging the holes and capping the fuel fitting system. The first step includes lowering the fuel pressure before removing the upper Intake Manifold. Separate the engine fuel feed pipe connecting to the Fuel Rail and the engine fuel return pipe linking to the Fuel Pressure Regulator before discarding the o-rings present in both pipes. Provide the following procedure to disconnect components from the fuel injectors: use the lock release to unplug the main injector harness electrical connector and then extract the Fuel Injector connectors by depressing the lock tab. Take out the Fuel Rail assembly by removing its retaining bolts and disconnecting the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector and separating the injector electrical harness from the Fuel Rail. Move o-ring seals from the outlet points of each injector on the spray tips. Position the new Fuel Rail assembly at an angle to fit the injectors afterward securing it with Fuel Rail attaching bolts that should be tightened up to 10 n.m (89 lb in). After installing the injector electrical harness on the Fuel Rail you must connect all injector connectors while ensuring the slide locks are properly in place. The coolant temperature sensor electrical connector must be reconnected at this time. The main injector harness electrical connector needs to be reconnected while installing new o-rings on both the fuel feed pipe and the fuel return pipe before connecting the fuel feed pipe at the Fuel Rail by tightening it to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Connect the fuel return pipe at the Fuel Pressure Regulator and tighten its nut to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Last step, reconnect the negative Battery Cable. Staff must perform a leak inspection by enabling the ignition for two seconds followed by a ten-second shutdown then ignition restart. Post-inspection they should install the upper Intake Manifold.
