2005 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?
A: The replacement of the Fuel Rail assembly requires noting the eight-digit identification number stamped on the left-hand rail because this rail services even cylinders 2, 4 and 6. The Fuel Injector o-rings must be installed with the black o-ring on top and the brown o-ring on the bottom because their materials differ although their sizes match. The prevention of fuel passage contamination needs both fitting caps and holes to be blocked during maintenance procedures. The first step involves depressurizing the fuel system and next you should take off the upper Intake Manifold. Service personnel should remove both engine feed and return fuel pipes from their positions at the Fuel Rail and pressure regulator before discarding their existing o-rings. Start by disconnecting both the main injector harness electrical connector and Fuel Injector connectors through the lock release mechanism followed by the lock tab depression to obtain connector release from each injector. Start by taking off the Fuel Rail retaining bolts then removing the Fuel Rail assembly after removing the injector electrical harness from the Fuel Rail and disconnecting the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector. Standards demand that you reduce the o-ring seal at each injector from its spray tip position. The new Fuel Rail assembly needs to be fitted while inclined toward installation of the injectors before securing it with attaching bolts set to 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque specification. Reconnect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector and main injector electrical harness to the Fuel Rail after which you should establish injector connector connection making sure to use mechanically sound locking mechanisms. You should begin by reconnecting the main injector harness electrical connector before you install new o-rings on both fuel feed pipe and fuel return pipe. Finally connect the fuel feed pipe at the Fuel Rail then tighten the nut to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). The Fuel Pressure Regulator receives the fuel return pipe installation along with a 17 n.m (13 lb ft) torque specification for the nut while the negative Battery Cable gets reconnected. The inspection for fuel leaks should be performed by turning on the ignition for two seconds followed by ten seconds of turning it off before running the ignition once more to check for any leakage. This process occurs before installing the upper Intake Manifold.
