  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a system on 2005 Buick LeSabre?
    A: To replace the accumulator, recover the refrigerant and disconnect the negative Battery Cable. Now unbolt the positive Battery Cable nut and cable from the under hood fuse block, and pull off the evaporator hose from the accumulator cover, and remove the cover. Next, pinch the a/c compressor hose nut for the accumulator and remove the a/c compressor hose after pinching now move the evaporator hose nut and the evaporator hose now pinch them around accumulator. Finally, remove the accumulator from the housing. To install, pour an appropriate amount of refrigerant oil into the new accumulator and mount it into the housing. Attach the evaporator hose to the accumulator and tighten the evaporator hose nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Connect the a/c compressor hose to the accumulator, and install the a/c compressor hose nut, tightening it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Mount the accumulator cover, connect the evaporator hose into the retainer, and then attach the positive Battery Cable and nut to the underhood fuse block, and tighten the nut to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Use the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) and perform the leak test on the fittings of the component and connect the negative Battery Cable & recharge the a/c system.
