2005 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right exhaust manifold (W/O NC8) on 2005 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The replacement process of the right Exhaust Manifold (W/O NC8) demands first removing the fuel injector sight shield followed by disconnecting the heated Oxygen Sensor at its sensor pigtail and right side spark plugs removal. Before proceeding the two nuts that hold the power brake booster heat shield to the exhaust crossover need removal along with the heat shield itself. First detach the two bolts which connect the exhaust crossover to the right Exhaust Manifold before removing the transaxle filler tube. Before the next steps begin by supporting the vehicle and removing the Exhaust Manifold pipe in addition to the heated Oxygen Sensor if replacement is necessary. First detach the fuel injector sight shield bracket by removing its retaining nuts as well as the bracket itself. Next unfasten and separate the retaining fasteners from the right engine lift bracket. You must begin by removing the bolt that attaches the egr inlet pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold before you uninstall the right Exhaust Manifold retaining fasteners for removal. Afterward, take out the right Exhaust Manifold together with its gasket and do not reuse any of these components. Clean and inspect the right Exhaust Manifold as part of a replacement process by removing the exhaust crossover seal from the exhaust crossover while discarding the seal for new replacement. You should apply the new exhaust crossover seal first to the exhaust crossover followed by installation of the new Exhaust Manifold Gasket over the cylinder head studs. Place the right Exhaust Manifold around the exhaust crossover before fitting it towards the right cylinder head. Tighten all right Exhaust Manifold fasteners to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Secure the egr inlet pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold using the installed bolt and torques it to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Fit the engine lift bracket to the right side of the motor before securing its retaining fasteners at 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs. Torque. Install the fuel injector sight shield bracket to the engine before torquing its retaining nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft. Lbs. Torque value). The installation order starts with the heated Oxygen Sensor then proceeds to the Exhaust Manifold pipe. Lower the vehicle first before attaching the transaxle filler tube along with the exhaust crossover bolts to right Exhaust Manifold by tightening them to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). The power brake booster heat shield should be positioned on top of the exhaust crossover before tightening its two nuts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Before completion you should install the right side spark plugs while connecting the heated Oxygen Sensor at its sensor pigtail along with the fuel injector sight shield.
