2005 Buick Park Avenue Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2005 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The replacement process for Throttle Body assembly starts with fuel injection sight shield removal followed by radiator coolant drainage. Begin by removing the air cleaner intake duct followed by disconnecting the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector and throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector and mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector. First remove cruise control cable from both the accelerator control bracket and Throttle Body lever before moving on to accelerator control cable. The electrical harness retainer clip must be removed from the accelerator control cable bracket if present before the installer disconnects vacuum hoses from the Throttle Body and notes their positions. Begin the Throttle Body repair by removing the support bracket and threading out the three Throttle Body nuts and studs which hold the Throttle Body to the Intake Manifold. Extract the Throttle Body assembly from its position. Use only non-solvent cleaning methods and avoid sharp tools when clearing gasket surfaces from the Intake Manifold and Throttle Body assembly to prevent damage. When installing a new Throttle Body be sure to detach the accelerator controls cable bracket from the assembly. To secure the accelerator controls bracket to the Throttle Body follow these steps: install the bracket then torque all bolts to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Construct a new gasket along with new inserts and studs when necessary before you insert the Throttle Body assembly into position then fasten it using retaining nuts that should be tightened to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The Throttle Body support bracket requires fastener attachment and torqueing to a value of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reconnect all vacuum hoses according to original placement while reattaching the accelerator control cable bracket electrical harness retainer clip if present. Secure the accelerator control cable to its mounting locations on both the control bracket and Throttle Body lever ensuring unrestricted throttle movement. Begin wiring the accelerator control cable to the accelerator control bracket and Throttle Body lever before securing the maf sensor electrical connector and tp sensor electrical connector and iac valve electrical connector. After reinstalling the air cleaner intake duct, add radiator coolant and replace the fuel injection sight shield.
