• Q: How to clean the throttle body on 2004 Buick Park Avenue?

  A: To clean Throttle Body remove if possible the air cleaner intake duct and if possible the air inlet screen. Check the Throttle Body bore and the throttle valve plate for deposits with the throttle valve opened up for full inspection. Do not immerse clean in cleaners or harsh solvents assemblies with the throttle position (TP) sensor, idle air control (IAC) valve and sealed throttle shaft bearings as they can destroy electric devices, seals or o-rings and solvents can weaken non-serviceable bearings. Avoid using wire brushes or scrapers that can damage Throttle Body parts and do not use cleaners that contain methyl ethyl ketone. Clean the bore of Throttle Body and throttle valve plate using a clean shop cloth, and gm top engine cleaner (P/N 1052626) or a similar product. If deposits are too much, dismantle the Throttle Body for cleaning by means of a parts cleaning brush without dropping it anywhere but into solvents. Replace all the parts mentioned and reassemble the Throttle Body, the air inlet screen, and the air cleaner intake duct after cleaning.
