• Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2005 Buick Rendezvous?

  A: Start the Fuel Rail assembly replacement by following two steps: relieve fuel system pressure while detaching the upper Intake Manifold. Cut off the connection between the engine fuel feed pipe and Fuel Rail as well as the fuel return pipe from the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Throw out the existing fuel feed pipe o-ring and fuel return pipe o-ring. Use these steps to detach the Fuel Injector main electrical connector: disconnect the main connector then pull up the connector lock release to depress the lock tab before lifting the injector free from its connector. Repeat this process for all electrical Fuel Injector connectors. First untangle the Fuel Injector wiring harness and the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector and next loosen and then remove the Fuel Rail bolts. After that extract the Fuel Rail with its fuel injectors from the engine. Connect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector along with the injector electrical harness to the Fuel Rail. Then install the Fuel Rail bolts with 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque until tight. Use gm p/n 12377900 (Canadian P/N 10953529) or equivalent grease material on the Fuel Injector electrical connectors before installation and insertion of the slide locks into position. Then connect the main electrical connector from the Fuel Injector harness. Installation of new o-rings on both the fuel feed pipe and fuel return pipe should be followed by connecting and securely tightening their respective nuts to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). To conclude the installation procedure first install the upper Intake Manifold while checking for fuel leaks by turning on the ignition for two seconds followed by ten seconds off and a final two seconds on.
