How to replace the shift knob on 2005 Cadillac CTS?

You should begin by putting a flat bladed tool beneath the shift knob trim ring at its junction with the knob before rotating the tool to detach the trim ring from the knob. First empty three turns of rotation from the shift knob retaining screw before pulling the shift knob directly upward from the shift knob shaft. Put the shift knob entirely on the shift knob shaft before putting the retaining screw back if removal existed then tightening it to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.). Place the shift knob trim ring onto the surface of the shift knob.
