2005 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Denso SC1 (KG9) alternator on 2005 Cadillac DeVille?
A: To replace the denso sc1 (KG9) generator, you need to unfasten the battery negative cable then remove the Drive Belt and the Radiator. Remove the wiring harness connector from the generator and move the protective boot from the generator bat output terminal for access. The generator output bat terminal nut is to be removed then its positive lead is disconnected from the generator. Prior to removing the generator from the vehicle, loosen lower generator bolt and remove the generator bolts (1, 2). For installation, mount the generator to the A/C Compressor and engine and install tightening the generator mounting bolts (1, 2) to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Attach the wiring harness connector to the generator, then connect the battery positive lead and attach generator output bat terminal nut and tighten the nut to 12.5 n.m (111 lb in). Push down the protective boot to the generator output bat terminal, reinstall the Radiator, install the Drive Belt, then tighten the battery's negative cable.
