2005 Cadillac SRX Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Brake Master Cylinder on 2005 Cadillac SRX?
A: The Brake Master Cylinder needs servicing when you place the mounting flange in a vise while making sure the rear of the main Piston remains open for access. Put suitable hose connectors at the master cylinder ports after taking its reservoir cap and diaphragm out. Insert transparent tubes through these threaded connectors before placing them inside the reservoir. Insert the brake fluid into the reservoir until it covers at least half the space while maintaining the brake hose tips totally immersed in delco supreme ii brake fluid or another compatible type approved by gm. Press the round tool into the primary Piston for 25 mm (1 inch) several times while observing fluid coming out of ports on the assembly when you use smooth rod tool with smooth end. While bleeding air from pistons you'll notice that it requires more force and moves less distance when depressing primary Piston. Keep pumping the primary Piston until fluid freely exits the ports without introducing air bubbles. Detach the transparent hoses from the reservoir space followed by putting back the diaphragm and reservoir cap before you disconnect the hoses using car maintenance tools. Prior to extraction from the vise switch a clean shop towel under the master cylinder to retain leaks.
