- Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2005 Cadillac SRX?A: Begin by removing the thermal expansion valve before you proceed to unscrew and remove the hvac module case screws combined with retainers and clips. Unplug the hvac module wiring harness from the rh temperature actuator before placing it aside and then disconnect and reset the Evaporator core temperature sensor connector . Start by removing the hvac module and extracting the Evaporator core before taking out the thermistor present inside the Evaporator core. The installation process requires addition of refrigerant oil to the Evaporator core followed by new Evaporator core seals installation and thermistor connection on the Evaporator. You should first put together the Evaporator core with hvac module case components. The hvac module wiring harness should be connected along with the Evaporator core temperature sensor connector to the rh temperature actuator. Follow the fastener notice based service precautions while installing the hvac module retainer clips and then fasten the hvac module case screws at 1 n.m torque (9 lb in). Put on the thermal expansion valve as the final step.
