2005 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Steering Angle Sensor on 2005 Cadillac SRX?
A: The Steering Angle Sensor service process begins with an identification of the steering angle sensor type shown in the illustrations followed by removal actions. The sensor connector's front end faces to the right side. Before removal from the adapter and bearing assembly there is no need for centering the existing sensor if it will be reused. The service process requires withdrawal of the connector followed by extraction of the sensor from its assembly position at the adapter and bearing section. An alignment mark should be made on the flush rotor flange cuff before removal to stop installation misalignment. Installation of the sensor requires placing the FRONT section with its integrated foam-ring and pin-hole centering device on a flush rotor flange cuff. Align all marks on the flush rotor flange cuff during installation which will stay aligned throughout the sensor seating process. New sensors require you to keep the pin in place until the sensor achieves complete seating. Installation demands sensor alignment with steering shaft followed by its placement into adapter and bearing assembly then sensor connection. A pin hole marks the front side of the sensor while a raised rotor flange cuff also exists on this surface. An alignment mark completes the sensor's front features. Check the reused sensor by aligning the raised rotor flange cuff's alignment marks before sensor insertion. Double D flats appear on the sensor's BACK surface while an alignment tab helps during the installation process. Each sensor requires its own sequential installation process which includes complete connector attachment and proper seating of the sensor into the assembly.
